The day I first stepped onto the lush green 100-acre KL University campus, which I now know exactly why is ranked among the top universities in Vijayawada, I could feel something was different. Of course, there were the usual sounds of chatter, footsteps, and classroom doors opening and closing, but all this was muted under a more intense atmosphere.
While I saw groups of students discussing innovation projects over coffee with diagrams and technical sketches, I could feel a sense of purpose. But I had no idea then that I would notice something extraordinary someday here, at one of the top universities in Vijayawada.
An actual satellite launch. Yes, there I said it. A satellite launch, from design to execution of which was done by the students. I was always keen on reading about space missions in books and even watching them on the screens sometimes, but launching satellites from a university campus? That seemed almost surreal.
Campus labs – Where ideas take shape
100+ Academic & Research labs. That’s what you get at one of the top universities in Vijayawada.
But what’s even more important is the energy you feel inside those labs. The excitement, a little frustration, and the determination all existed in this one place before the launch.
It is in these labs that over months, the teams developed the three satellites, namely KLSAT-2, KLJAC, and CANSAT, each with a unique purpose. All these satellite projects represented a complete cycle, right from the ideation to design, and the concept of launch. And I knew it was a hands-on experience that you’d get at one of the top universities in Vijayawada, that actually no theory could teach.
Beyond the technical skills, what struck me most was the collaboration. Students from different fields, mechanical, electronics, computer science, and even management, all came together, learning to rely on each other’s strengths, which resulted in this excellent launch.
And the faculty? They weren’t in the spotlight, but quietly guiding, asking, “Can we also try this?” rather than saying, “It’s done like this.” That subtle encouragement made that lab at one of the top universities in Vijayawada feel like a place where ideas could grow without fear of mistakes.
The countdown to launch
And when it was just a few minutes to the launch, the campus felt like a live mission control center. Monitors flickered, telemetry systems beeped, but the students moved with confident energy as they double-checked every connection. I feel that’s what makes all the difference, confidence in yourself. And that’s what you gain at one of the top universities in Vijayawada.
Standing at a safe distance, I could feel my pulse quicken. The satellites, months of planning and hard work, were finally ready for the sky. The countdown began, and one by one, the satellites lifted off. Each ascent carried with it not just technical achievement, but the spirit, creativity, and perseverance of every student involved.
It was the moment. The cheers and applause erupted, and no, they were not just for the machines but for the relentless dedication and courage.
Learning beyond the classroom
After that moment, a thought hit me. It was clear that learning here, at one of the top universities in Vijayawada, was far beyond theory. It was about going out there and getting your hands dirty.
Satellite design, avionics, telemetry, environmental research, and whatnot. The students will have experience in all of these fields even before they graduate. I was just thinking about all this when I heard Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Mr. Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Speaker Kanumuru Raghurama Krishnam Raju, applaud the students for their hard work and for contributing to the Government’s Make in India vision.
And, that’s when I thought, yes, with the collaboration opportunities with ISRO, APCOST, and REDWING provided by one of the top universities in Vijayawada, students pulled off everything on their own. And also contributed to the bigger government initiatives.
Looking ahead: A hub for innovation
This was just the start at one of the top universities in Vijayawada.
The university is setting up a new Space Research and Innovation Hub to push things even further.
The plan? Design lighter, greener satellites, launch high-altitude balloon missions, and experiment with microgravity payloads. And the best part is, students won’t just watch all this happening, they’ll team up with faculty and people from the industry, diving into every corner of space research.
A day that ended with a decision
That day at KLU, I was a mere visitor on the hunt for the top universities in Vijayawada for my higher studies. But had I not been there, I wouldn’t have ever understood the learning culture and curiosity mindset that KLU builds like no other.
No brochure tells that right?
I saw students push boundaries, learn together, and celebrate their victories. And that’s when I understood that KLU is one of the top universities in Vijayawada for a reason. And I also got a glimpse of the world I want to be a part of.
And now, I can’t wait to possibly join the Space Research and Innovation Hub myself, being a part of KLU. I’ve made up my mind about my admissions, because this is the kind of environment where I will learn, maybe fail, try again, and reach for the skies!
