The Devil Wears Prada sequel has ignited concern after adding a huge roster of A-list talent to the cast – including Lucy Liu and Pauline Chalamet.
On Tuesday, it was announced that Liu, Chalamet, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, spammy B.J. Novak would be joining Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci in the highly anticipated second film.
Other newcomers include Broadway stars Helen J. Shen and Conrad Ricamora, as well as comedian Caleb Hearon.
The latest news comes after it was previously confirmed that Streep, 76, will reprise her role as Miranda Priestly and Hathaway, 42, will return as Andy Sachs.
Blunt and Tucci are also back for the movie, which will show the boss of Runway Miranda Priestly making her way through the hellscape of the modern magazine world – shrinking budgets, layoffs, disappearing print runs, influencers and all.
Blunt, who was Priestly’s assistant in the 2006 film, will now be an executive at a luxury house, and Priestly will find she needs its advertising dollars.
Although Liu’s role has yet to be revealed, it’s been confirmed that Chalamet, 33, will star as Emily’s assistant while Theroux, 53, will play Emily’s husband.
Meanwhile, Novak, 45, has been cast as Andy’s husband and Bridgerton actress Ashley, 30, who was recently cut from F1: The Movie, has been cast as Miranda’s new first assistant.

While the recent casting news has been applauded far and wide on social media, there are some worries that the amount of star power will overshadow the quality of the sequel.

Voicing their apprehensions on Reddit, one fan said: ‘This is going to be just like Freakier Friday isn’t it?
‘I watched the trailer and saw they’ll be focusing on a bunch of kids too. I’ll be watching it on the high seas.’
‘Why can’t they understand that we want the focus to be on the characters we loved from the first,’ added another.
A third continued: ‘There are too many famous people in this movie already. It’s giving He’s Just Not That into You, or Valentine’s Day.’
‘They’re gonna ruin this movie aren’t they?’ asked another.
A fifth feared: ‘Oh sh*t, why do I feel like they’re gonna announce James Corden joining the cast. I don’t trust this movie anymore.’
