The UP SI Syllabus 2025 is structured to assess candidates comprehensively for the post of Sub-Inspector in the Uttar Pradesh Police Department. The examination is divided into multiple sections covering a wide range of subjects to test the mental aptitude, reasoning abilities, general knowledge, and professional competencies of aspiring officers. The written exam is conducted online and is objective in nature. The General Hindi section focuses on language skills, grammar, comprehension, and vocabulary. Key topics include sandhi, samas, tenses, synonyms and antonyms, idioms and phrases, sentence correction, and passage-based questions. This section evaluates the candidate’s command over Hindi, which is crucial for official communication in the department. The Law and Constitution section tests knowledge of the Indian Constitution, fundamental rights, duties, directive principles, human rights, traffic rules, and Indian Penal Code. It also includes questions on the Right to Information Act, the role of Police in a democratic society, and general legal awareness. The General Knowledge portion covers current affairs (national and international), Indian history, geography, economy, science and technology, books and authors, sports, and culture of India, particularly focusing on Uttar Pradesh. Candidates must stay updated with the latest events and developments as this section tests awareness and alertness. The Numerical and Mental Ability Test includes topics such as number system, simplification, percentage, average, profit and loss, ratio and proportion, simple and compound interest, time and distance, tables and graphs, and basic arithmetic operations. This section is designed to test the candidate’s quantitative aptitude and problem-solving skills. The Mental Aptitude, Intelligence, and Reasoning section includes questions on logical reasoning, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, blood relations, coding-decoding, series, direction sense test, classification, analogy, visual memory, and decision-making. It also focuses on attitude and emotional intelligence, which are vital traits for any police officer. Apart from the written test, candidates who qualify will undergo a Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which are qualifying in nature. The final merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in the written examination. Therefore, aspirants must focus on all four sections with equal emphasis, practice mock tests regularly, and stay updated with current affairs.
